Our 3rd KC Blogger Meetup was a blast!

Intellectual property attorney Matt Walters helped us navigate the tricky world of copyright law as it generally applies to blogging. He was SO informative. Look for his recap on the blog soon.

I talked a little about the guidelines on giveaways and promotions on Facebook. Here is my recap. Be sure to read it over so that your FaceBook page doesn't get taken down.

GUIDELINES on GIVEAWAYS and PROMOTIONS on FACEBOOK
The last revision of FaceBook Guidelines was May 11, 2011.

Promotions on Facebook must be administered within Apps on Facebook.com with a 3rd party apps such as:

Shortstack.com

Offerpop.com
Tab Fusion

North Social

Involver

Wildfire

Customizer

Raffelcopter (not an app)

If not using Facebook 3rd party apps conduct your giveaway on your blog. You can do a Facebook post with a link to go to your blog to participate in the giveaway.

Facebook doesn’t want to be held liable for anything that might happen due to your promotion. To best follow rule two, include a few sentences in your promotions that says, "No way is FaceBook associated with this giveaway."

You cannot accept Likes as giveaway entries.

Notify winners on your blog, by email or twitter. Don't notify the winner on Facebook.
