Betsy says her favorite thing about blogging is that she loves making time to be creative every day ... it's her version of meditation.

She just started her 5th year of blogging. At first she wanted to create a New Years resolution she felt she could stick to, and in her first year she posted 369 entries, but has tapered down to posting less in more recent years.  Becky’s first blog covered all kinds of topics from teaching, exploring KC, vacations, family and friends, TV shows, craft projects, and multiple moves. Then, in 2009, she wanted to change things up. Her new resolution for this next year became to work on her photography skills.  She says she’s always loved taking pictures, and started The View Across Town as a daily photo blog.  She didn’t imagine the blog would continue past this first year, but now finds that posting her favorite photo of the day is one of the best parts of her day.

Becky used to have an Etsy shop, to sell jewelry, dog toys and other crafts, but quit making those things when her love of photography really grew. She says she still continues to craft and is always looking for the next project to bury herself in.

Currently she’s in her 8^th year of teaching, and has a class of 26 fourth graders.  Her job fills most of her time, but blogging has allowed her to turn off her work when she comes home.  Most nights she ditches her bag of papers to grade and picks up her camera to do something creative.

Becky grew up in Overland Park and bought her own condo almost 4 years ago not far from her childhood neighborhood. The school where she works is just about 7 minutes away from my home ... ideal for a girl who is a night owl and likes her sleep in the morning.
