Morgan says that her favorite thing about blogging is meeting new like-minded people, and Carrie loves creating a community with people about what inspires them. They're business partners and together they write the Ampersand Design Studio blog. They started their business officially in March of 2011, but had the blog together for about a year before that.
They write about all kinds of lifestyle and design topics including print & pattern, home decor, mommy life, food, books, fashion, and handmade and DIY projects. They started the blog as an extension of their business and post everyday. Both Carrie and Morgan freelance in graphic design and are surface pattern designers. Right now they're gearing up for their first trade show: Surtex in New York.
Ampersand Design Studio has an Etsy shop where they sell art prints and melamine platters. Some of their designs are for kinds and babies rooms, but they have plenty of options for adults too. They've had their Etsy shop for about a year and a half, and having been doing design ever since they both graduated from KU in 2000.
Both Morgan and Carrie are stay at home moms part time, and a graphic and surface pattern designer part time. Born and raised in Kansas City she has lived her off and on over the years. She says she never thought she'd land here, but is so happy she has.
